D-Day(!)

Tuesday 5 am, 8/18/08. We depart:

My car was packed tight... Not even air could fit between the cracks.

Dad, what a cowboy...

Waiting in line inside a truck stop bathroom... notice the excitement on my face...

Camera 1.
Camera 2.
We woke up Dale. A great flute player, an even better poker player. He is 1/2 of my room mates.
He didn't seem to happy about the 'wake up' photo shoot.
Ice Machine, Score.
My room, not much to look at yet.
A post card from Japan, sent by Janine. This post card was on my refrigerator waiting for me when i arrived.... such a great friend.

After the first 2 days of Texas, I am really excited! My room mates are both relaxed people. The house is in a great neighborhood, surrounded by farm land (there are cows literally across the street). Denton has a rad music scene, many local bands, most with a genuine southern twang.
Jazz is HUGE in the Dallas area. Almost every city has there own jazz festival! Down the road is a comfy little pool hall; PJ Pockets. I suspect I'll be there, sharking the crowd...
Next week begins the Dallas area Texas State Fair! Rodeos, live music, fried food... more fried food...(relax mom). Down the highway is the Dallas Motorsports Raceway. As one of Nascar's main venues, oh... my... gosh... that place is humongous! Lastly, the heat really is not that bad. Since I have been here, it has stayed around the mid~high 90's. For this area, that is somewhat of a cold streak, but heat has never bothered me. Honestly, the thing I do dislike, is the constant Air Conditioning. Living in a house that never leave 75 feels somewhat unnatural, and is kinda un-nerving. I am just an 'open-windows' type guy... Texas is not an 'open-windows' type state...

That's all for now. Thank you for reading, ill try to keep it shorter next time.

  2. Love the pictures. The house looks really nice and well-built, strong enough to survive a hurricane! Have a great week and please keep on rambling on...xo
